CONTRIBUTIONS AND EVENTS IN AUREET'S MEMORY

 

• Aureet's family and friends contributed to the Aureet Memorial Fund toward activities in her memory, and actions for improving public safety and rescue procedures.

• Contributions to MIT Hillel, Facing History and Ourselves, Magen David Adom, Jewish National Fund, Alzheimer's Foundation, several synagogues, and other organizations.

• Exhibits of Aureet's paintings: Boston University (May 1991), Lincoln Public Library (Sept. 1991), Newton Free Library (Jan. 1992 & Feb. 1993), Hebrew Rehabilitation Center (Sept. 1993).

• A memorial service with relatives in Israel -Jerusalem, Israel - May 1991.

• A memorial service by Ellen Queeney and her family at the Beth El Cemetery - April 1991.

• A memorial program and plaque dedication ceremony near the site of the accident - Sandy Pond, Lincoln.

• An annual walk around Sandy Pond on September 8 (Aureet's birthday).

• Printing of greeting cards with 4 of Aureet's paintings and some poetry excerpts.

• Dry suit for water rescue given by Steven Hassan to Lincoln fire/police department in Aureet's memory.

• Music written to some of Aureet's poems by Hayg Boyadjian of Lexington.

• Songs written in Aureet's memory by James Mobius of Brookline.

• A song incorporating the words of the plaque (near the site of the accident) and some of Aureet's poetry written by Mark Nilsen.

• Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' Mutts n' Stuff Fair Aureet Bar-Yam Dog Walk-a-Thon, Safety With Your Pet information booth, and presentation with plaque in memory of Aureet's "love and devotion to animals." - Sept. 1991
