DR. STUART KELTER—1991

I admired Aureet for her emotional openness, her enthusiasm, and her dedication…
Her interest and enthusiasm for learning and for helping people refused to slow down. I was continually impressed by her utter lack of cynicism. In fact, she had even found a way to think of her preparations for the licensing exam as a valuable learning experience.
Aureet was very supportive toward me when it was my turn to take the exam. She lent me her box of materials, lavished me with advice, and told me repeatedly that I needn't worry about the exam because she was sure I would pass. Her confidence in me helped smooth the way through that particular hurdle and others as well. I think the most important experience we shared was the couple therapy we did together. Although we did co-therapy with only one couple, we found that our styles, values, and sensitivities worked extremely well together. I helped introduce her (and the couple) to psychodramatic enactments. In record time, she was mastering the technique and finding a new way to channel her considerable empathic powers. We had an uncanny intuition about each other's intentions, and were frequently able to add to the other's efforts.
Despite Aureet's protestations that she was not yet a substance abuse specialist, she showed tremendous integrity and persistence to integrate into her thinking an effective model for helping substance abusers.
